Age Calculator Between Two Dates

Enter a date of birth (or any start date) and an end date to get the exact age or time between the two dates. It counts real calendar months and leap years, so the answer matches what you'd count on a calendar.

Leave the end date as today to answer “how old am I?” — or set it to a future date to see how old someone will be.

Worked example

Example: born June 15, 1990 — age on October 17, 2026

  1. Whole years: June 15, 1990 → June 15, 2026 = 36 years
  2. Whole months: June 15 → October 15 = 4 months
  3. Remaining days: October 15 → October 17 = 2 days

Age = 36 years, 4 months, 2 days (13,273 days).

Formula

Age = full years + full months + remaining days, counted from the start date

We step forward whole years first, then whole months, then count leftover days. When a month is shorter than the start day (e.g. starting on the 31st), the date is clamped to the month's last day.

Total days use the exact number of days between dates, including leap days.

Frequently asked questions

How old is someone born in 2007?

In late 2026, someone born in 2007 is 19 if their birthday has already passed this year, or 18 if it hasn't. Enter the exact birth date above for a precise answer.

How do I calculate age between two dates in Excel?

Use =DATEDIF(A2,B2,"Y") for years, "YM" for remaining months and "MD" for remaining days.

No — like most age calculations, it counts the days between the dates. Add one day if you need an inclusive count.

How are leap-year birthdays (February 29) handled?

In non-leap years the birthday is treated as February 28, which is the most common convention.
