High School GPA Calculator
Add each class, pick the letter grade, the credits (usually 1 for a full-year class or 0.5 for a semester) and the level. You'll get your unweighted GPA on the 4.0 scale and your weighted GPA with +0.5 for Honors and +1.0 for AP, IB and dual-enrollment classes.
Colleges see both numbers, so it's worth knowing each one.
- Weighted GPA
- 3.88
- Unweighted GPA (4.0)
- 3.50
- Credits · quality points
- 4 · 14.00
Worked example
Example: four year-long classes
- AP Biology A → 4.0 (weighted 5.0)
- Honors English B+ → 3.3 (weighted 3.8)
- Algebra II B → 3.0
- Spanish A− → 3.7
- Unweighted = (4.0 + 3.3 + 3.0 + 3.7) ÷ 4 = 3.50
- Weighted = (5.0 + 3.8 + 3.0 + 3.7) ÷ 4 = 3.875
Unweighted GPA 3.50, weighted GPA 3.88.
Formula
GPA = Σ(grade points × credits) ÷ Σ credits
Weighted points = grade points + level bonus (Honors +0.5, AP/IB +1.0)
F grades earn no bonus. Schools vary — some use +1.0 for Honors or a 5.0 cap — so check your handbook.
