Total quality points
247.5
GPA needed this semester to reach 3.5
4.7 (above 4.0 — needs more credits)

Steps

  1. (3.2 × 60 + 3.7 × 15) ÷ (60 + 15) = 3.3

Worked example

Example: 3.2 GPA over 60 credits, plus a 3.7 semester of 15 credits

  1. Current quality points: 3.2 × 60 = 192
  2. New quality points: 3.7 × 15 = 55.5
  3. (192 + 55.5) ÷ 75 = 3.30

New cumulative GPA: 3.30.

Formula

New GPA = (GPA₁ × Credits₁ + GPA₂ × Credits₂) ÷ (Credits₁ + Credits₂)

Needed GPA = (Target × Total credits − GPA₁ × Credits₁) ÷ Credits₂

The more credits you've completed, the harder it is to move your cumulative GPA.
