High-voltage color
Bright Winter, also called Clear Winter, leads with clarity and leans cool. People in this season often have dark hair, striking light or bright eyes and noticeable contrast between features. They look most alive in saturated, clean colors and can seem dull in muted shades.
The palette at work
The best colors are vivid and slightly cool: fuchsia, electric blue, emerald, cobalt and true red, with icy pastels and pure white for contrast. Black is fine, and so is a bright color worn head to toe.
A few combinations:
- Black with fuchsia or electric blue.
- Pure white with emerald.
- Navy with an icy pastel for a softer, still crisp look.
What looks wrong
Dusty, warm and earthy colors are the problem, such as camel, olive, dusty rose and muted sage. They flatten the natural contrast.
Bright Winter or Bright Spring?
Both need clear, saturated color. Bright Winter is cooler and handles black and icy shades; Bright Spring is warmer and prefers coral, lime and golden yellow. Holding fuchsia beside hot coral usually shows the difference.
Details
Polished silver and white gold usually suit. Bright berry, fuchsia and blue-red lipsticks are on-palette. For more vivid shades, browse bright colors.
