Soft Autumn at a glance
Soft Autumn is muted first and warm second. Typical coloring includes light to medium golden-brown hair, hazel or soft green eyes and warm-neutral skin, all with fairly low contrast. The palette resembles dried flowers and autumn fields: sage, terracotta, salmon and moss.
Building outfits
- Start with oatmeal, mushroom taupe or soft brown as the base.
- Add a core color such as sage, dusty teal or muted coral.
- Finish with one accent: rust, olive or teal green.
Tonal outfits in one or two neighboring colors look especially good on this season.
Colors that overpower
Black, icy blue, fuchsia and pure white tend to look harsh. For a crisp light color, oatmeal or a soft cream is kinder than pure white. For a dark one, soft brown or olive gray replaces black.
Neighbors
Soft Autumn borders Soft Summer, which is cooler and grayer, and True Autumn, which is richer and warmer. If rust and mustard look vivid and healthy on you, the True Autumn page may fit better.
Details
Brushed gold, bronze and antique brass usually suit. Warm nude, terracotta and soft coral lipsticks are on-palette. If you design with these colors, the swatches work equally well as a calm, earthy brand palette; see sage green for more muted greens.
