A palette from the season
These five groups follow what changes outdoors in spring: blossom on fruit trees, daffodils and buttercups, fresh leaves, clearer skies and lilac. Most of the colors are light and fairly saturated, which gives spring designs their fresh, optimistic look.
Using spring colors
- Easter and spring events: pastel yellow, blossom pink and leaf green together.
- Weddings: blush pink, lilac and soft green with ivory.
- Seasonal marketing: swap a brand's neutral backgrounds for a light spring tint, keeping logos and text unchanged.
- Gardens and interiors: sky blue and new-leaf green bring the outside in.
Combining them
Pick one color from each of two or three groups rather than all five. A light background tint, a mid accent and a deep anchor color for text (such as navy or deep green) is usually enough. The palette ideas above show combinations built from these swatches.
Spring colors and the Spring season
In personal color analysis, "Spring" means a person with warm, clear coloring, and the spring color palette is a different, wardrobe-focused set. Many seasonal colors overlap, but the Spring season avoids the cool lilacs and icy blues that appear here.
For softer shades, see pastel colors and light green; for the yellows, pastel yellow.
