What season am I? Color analysis quiz

Ten questions about your skin, eyes, hair and how colors behave next to your face point to one of the 12 seasons. You see the scores behind the answer, not just a label.

Question 1 of 10

How the quiz decides

Each answer nudges three scores:

  • Temperature: warm (golden, peachy undertones) versus cool (pink, rosy or bluish undertones).
  • Value: light versus deep, meaning how light or dark your overall coloring is.
  • Chroma: bright and clear (high contrast, vivid eyes) versus soft (blended, low contrast).

The three scores are scaled to the same range, so no trait wins just because more questions touch it. Your strongest trait picks the subgroup, and your lean on a second trait picks the season:

Strongest traitThenSeason
Warmbrighter / softerTrue Spring / True Autumn
Coolbrighter / softerTrue Winter / True Summer
Lightwarmer / coolerLight Spring / Light Summer
Deepwarmer / coolerDeep Autumn / Deep Winter
Brightwarmer / coolerBright Spring / Bright Winter
Softwarmer / coolerSoft Autumn / Soft Summer

The result screen shows your season, the trait that decided it, and three sliders with your scores, so you can see whether it was a clear call or a close one. If a slider sits near the middle, the neighboring seasons listed under your palette deserve a look too.

Answering well

  • Answer in daylight, looking in a mirror rather than at photos, which are often edited or filtered.
  • Go by your natural coloring. For hair, use your natural color or your childhood color if you dye it.
  • Pick "hard to say" when unsure. A neutral answer is better than a guess that pushes the result the wrong way.
  • Use Back to change an answer. Your earlier choices stay selected.

The questions behind the scores

Some questions are classic undertone checks:

  • Vein color. Veins look greener through warm-toned skin and bluer through cool-toned skin. It's a rough sign, easily affected by light.
  • Gold or silver. Warm skin tends to glow next to gold, cool skin next to silver.
  • Sun reaction. Easy golden tanning leans warm and deeper; burning easily leans cool and lighter.

Others measure contrast and clarity: the contrast between hair, skin and eyes, whether your eyes look sparkling or soft, and how you look in black or pure white. The last group asks which colors get you compliments, because real-world feedback is surprisingly reliable.

Where seasonal analysis comes from

Seasonal color analysis grew out of color theory for painters and was popularized for the public by Carole Jackson's 1980 book Color Me Beautiful, which used four seasons. Later analysts split each season into three according to its dominant trait, giving the 12-season system used here. It's a styling framework, not a science: helpful for narrowing choices, but not the final word on what you can wear.

After the quiz

Your result includes the season's palette in four groups: best colors, neutrals, accents and colors to usually avoid. Click any chip to copy its HEX code, or Copy palette HEX to take the whole list for a shopping note or mood board.

Then test the result with fabric. Use the color analysis virtual drape, which opens on your season, and compare it with the neighbors suggested on the result screen. Clothes you already own, held under your chin in daylight, are the best evidence.

The camera color identifier names the color of a garment before you buy it. To build an outfit palette around one favorite color, try the color palette generator, and use the complementary colors tool to find accent pairings.

FAQ

Is a color analysis quiz as good as an in-person analysis?

Not quite. A trained analyst drapes dozens of fabric swatches under controlled light and watches how your skin responds, which no questionnaire can do. What a quiz does well is narrow twelve options down to two or three, cheaply and in a few minutes. If you are considering a paid consultation, taking this first tells you which palettes to ask about, and the result pages list each season's neighbors for exactly that reason.

Why did I get a different season from an online photo analysis?

Photo analysis depends on camera, lighting and editing, and so do your answers to some questions. Treat both as hints and confirm with draping.

I'm between warm and cool. What now?

You may be close to neutral. Neutral-leaning people usually fit a Light, Deep, Bright or Soft season best, because those seasons are defined by value or chroma first and sit between warm and cool.
