From the reef

Coral is a warm pinkish orange, named after the colorful reef-building animals. The CSS keyword coral is #FF7F50, and lightcoral is the softer #F08080.

Coral, salmon and peach

  • Coral is the most saturated of the three, with an orange lean.
  • Salmon is pinker and slightly softer.
  • Peach is paler and lighter. See peach color codes.

Styling coral

Coral is cheerful and summery. It pairs well with teal and turquoise (its rough complement), navy, mint and warm white. A coral button on a cool background stands out without the alarm of pure red.

On screen

Coral sits in an awkward middle for contrast: dark text is usually safer than white on mid corals, so check any button in the contrast checker. For pairings, see teal or try a split complement on the color wheel.
